s09-Day 03 Working with Feeds, RSS, and Atom
Readings for today: Pro Web 2.0 Mashups, Chapter 4 on syndication feeds
Focus today: conversation and brainstorming of project ideas, in prep for more work on Monday.
Important points about feeds (Chapter 4):
- many formats (RSS 2.0, 1.0, Atom) but same concept (XML formats + JSON)
- ubiquity of feeds
- ecosystem around feeds
- Yahoo! Pipes as a tool to mashup feeds.
Brainstorming notes — ideas we came up for mashup projects.
(Update: We actually spent more time in the following class on feeds.)
